GolfDigest.com recently announced a winner in its inaugural “Hottest Golfer” poll, another future former wife in sports appears to have gotten her hot little hands on some high-priced housing and there’s a report emerging that a member of the Super Bowl bound New England Patriots is engaged.

The “Wife Wire” highlights recent headlines that involve some of the beautiful wives in sports and entertainment, or just simply some of the more attractive female athletes out there.

Don’t sweat it guys, you don’t just get the news… you get some views, too.

Wire 1: Sandra Gal

Status: In Sports – Professional Golfer (LPGA Tour)

Gal was born in Germany and played golf at the University of Florida.  Hmm, wonder if she’s “Tebow crazy” like everyone else in Gainesville?

Gal (see right) recently hit the headlines over the last week after she was announced as the winner of GolfDigest.com’s inaugural “Hottest Golfer” poll.

While Gal is striking, the best bet is that most guys – if paying closer attention to this poll – would have stuffed the ballot boxes with the likes of LPGA names like Blair O’Neal (below) or Anna Rawson (at bottom).

Wire 2: Anna Burns

Status: Future Wife in Sports? – Miss Hooters International 2005

While the New England Patriots are in the NFL spotlight for earning a berth in Super Bowl XLVI, it’s Wes Welker, who is hitting the headlines even harder, with reports stating that the Pats’ wide receiver has recently gotten engaged.

Anna Burns, the reported future wife in sports, was Miss Hooters International 2005, and, well… in a word, “Wow”.  Wes clearly hasn’t just made a living catching passes from Tom Brady and making fun of Rex Ryan’s feet.

Wire 3: Vanessa Bryant

Status: Future Former Wife in Sports

Kobe Bryant is likely frustrated by the Lakers’ 11-8 start to the season, but that’s nothing compared to what he’s going through with his separation from Vanessa Bryant.

For those that haven’t heard, it appears that the artist formerly known as Kobe’s wife is set to nab “three Orange County properties worth an estimated $18.8 million”.

And if Kobe’s wallet doesn’t already feel lighter, that figure appears as if it will be pocket change when all is said and done.

But the real question that remains: Will Vanessa do her best impression of Elin Nordegren, and demolish any of these mansions?  Yeah, doubtful, but speaking of Elin…

Wire 4: Vanna White

Status: Not in Sports – Long-time TV Co-host on Wheel of Fortune

Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak openly admitted that both he and Vanna White used to get drunk on margaritas while working on the show years ago.

What an off-the-wall storyline.

Perhaps that’s why the show eventually made it so that Vanna only had to touch the lit box to make the letter show up.  Spinning it around (in a circle) may have been too challenging when on the sauce.

As previously mentioned, Jessica Simpson is back in sports headlines – but this time it’s the announcement of her engagement to Eric Johnson.

The key here – no one can point out that Simpson cursed Johnson – as she apparently had done with the Cowboys and former boyfriend Tony Romo.  This time around, Johnson was already out of football – as the former San Francisco and New Orleans tight end was released by the Saints back in 2008 – well before the two began dating.

Wire 2: Brittny Gastineau

Status: Girlfriend –but Phelps should refer to her as “THE WIFE”

The very sexy Brittny Gastineau – daughter of former New York Jets headliner Mark Gastineau – is in sports headlines, as reports emerged from TMZ that she is currently datilng Olympic swimmer and gold medalist Michael Phelps.

For those that are unfamiliar with Gastineau, over the last few years she has had a modeling career as well as making multiple appearances on reality TV shows – most notably a hit show on E! called Gastineau Girls – which covered both Brittny and her mother, Lisa.

She’s also quite striking.

Wire 3: Karina Smirnoff

Status: Engaged – Future Wife in Sports

Dancing With the Stars regular Karina Smirnoff told People last week that she is engaged to Major League Baseball starting pitcher Brad Penny.

Penny recently hasn’t been hitting the strike zone as often as during past seasons, but the 32-year old free agent certainly scored with this news.

Status: In Sports – Skydiver

Men’s Fitness has recently named its hottest female athlete – and the winner is Italian skydiver Roberta Mancino.

It’s 4^th and goal – 0:15 to go – your team is down six but piecing together a drive that is clearly one for the history books.  You have seen every second of this masterpiece of a sporting event, and the icing on the cake would be your team escaping with a hard fought “W”.

And that’s when it happens…

She walks in front of the TV right after the snap.

“She” being “the wife” – we’ll call her that.  That’s what the boys call her.  She may be your wife, maybe a girlfriend, heck, maybe even an acquaintence.  No matter what, she’s the wife – and more often than not, she hates sports.

As a result, you see nothing.  All you can see is a silhouette of estrogen – yet you have to gauge the crowd noise to try and figure out what happened that very second.

This is one of MANY examples that the men of the sports world encounter throughout their lives.

We give you “The Wife Hates Sports” – a sports site with a twist, and this is how we’ll build on it from here.

The site will touch on many different fronts, featuring regular sports posts, pieces on the entertainment industry (music, movies, television and more) plus touching upon the relationship side of sports – but don’t fret ladies – it won’t just be like the aforementioned example.  We’ll try and tie in those females that are sports fans, too.

It’s all still a work in progress – but we’ll do the best we can to have as much fun as we can, while hopefully entertaining our readers and bringing in as much audience participation as possible.

On top of the random sports stories that develop, we’ll also be introducing various features in the future, including (but not limited to) the following:

Wife Wire – Live chats during key sporting and entertainment events
