It’s been a while since The Wife Hates Sports has tossed a caption challenge in the direction of our faithful, creative and funny readers – and now that I’ve buttered you up, I’ll first talk some of the most talked about quarterbacks of the 2010 NFL season, and then follow each mini-update with a caption challenge.

The three chosen quarterbacks are: Peyton Manning, Matt Leinart and Jay Cutler.

First, there’s Peyton Manning and the Colts.

For anyone slamming down on the Colts for the beating they have taken this preseason (especially at the hands of the Packers the other night), they should take a look at the history books – as the Colts haven’t fared well in the preseason for years.

The bigger concern regarding the Colts should instead be the new umpire position rule – as further discussed in The New York Times. In particular, this new rule could take away a major advantage that the Colts have in how Manning and Co. run their offense.

But enough of what Peyton is saying about that, what about here?

Picture 1: Peyton Manning

Let's hear your best Peyton Manning captions! (AP Photo/Bill Waugh)

Second, there’s Matt Leinart and the Arizona Cardinals.

Certainly, Leinart has been taking a lot of criticism with his play – and not just during this preseason, but over the past few years since being drafted by Arizona.

Kurt Warner’s retirement was the open door for Leinart to take over a very talented offense – but to this point, Leinart has floundered that opportunity, and recently, the Cardinals have announced that Derek Anderson will start the team’s next preseason game.

Hmm, wonder what advice Kurt Warner would have…

Picture 2: Matt Leinart

What's Kurt Warner saying to Matt Leinart? Let's hear your best!

Finally, there’s Jay Cutler and the Chicago Bears.

Cutler has been one of the more unique stories of the NFL, first as a quarterback that generated so much hype and excitement when headed to Chicago last year – only to throw a league-high in interceptions.

This year, the expectations are not as high, but Mike Martz is running the offense now.

However, as Neil Hayes of the Chicago Sun-Times reports, Martz still wants the Bears starting QB to remain aggressive – and not discuss interceptions at all.

Certainly, there’s a good possibility that Cutler could be all-smiles in 2010 – and instead not making faces like this…

Picture 3: Jay Cutler

Jay Cutler may have a better year with Mike Martz - but what about a caption for this image?

Now that you have your triple dose of caption challenge pictures, here’s your chance to generate the most creative, funny, or unique caption possible for one – or all of them. Either that, or just pitch in your initial thoughts on either or any of these three QB’s.

To reward you, we’ll find a way to highlight our winners for each of the captions above.

Have at it, friends – and as always, thanks for reading The Wife Hates Sports!

The 2010 FIFA World Cup is just around the corner – and the whole world has been waiting for this… and this time, that just may include the good ol’ U-S-of-A, too.

Due to some exciting and competitive performances in recent tournaments, the country has rallied around USA soccer to some degree – and therefore, there’s excitement brewing for the red, white and blue headed into this year’s tournament, being held in South Africa.

Therefore, to celebrate the World Cup tournament – which starts up in just a few days (on June 11th) – The Wife Hates Sports would like to present another caption challenge.

This time around, you get a special double dose – featuring two of the most ridiculous and hilarious soccer-related images that we could find on the internet.

Here are the images (below) – and here’s your chance to generate the most creative, funny, or unique caption possible for one – or both of them. Either that, or just pitch in your initial thoughts on USA’s chances in this year’s World Cup.

The NBA Playoffs have reached the Conference Finals – and the dream match of Kobe vs. LeBron will once again not happen.

The Boston Celtics – with great defense and a fired up Boston crowd – eliminated LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers with a series-clinching Game 6 win, 94-85.

So now that the Celtics have moved on and King James is going home – many will immediately ask the question, “What’s next for LeBron James?”

My answer: Let’s take our foot off the gas just a little bit.

It just happened, and certainly LeBron has a lot to think about heading into the offseason.

So instead of formulating an immediate opinion about LeBron James and his teeter-tottering relationship with the city of Cleveland, let’s instead take a softer side to what just happened – and at TWHS, that’s in the form of another caption contest.

Certainly, in the upcoming days or weeks – I’ll have plenty of opinions and thoughts to add regarding NBA free agency, including King James himself.

But for now, let’s celebrate the fantastic performance of the Boston Celtics – who many left for dead headed into the postseason.

Well, except for the city of Cleveland – you get a hall pass.

As for LeBron, well… there’s this image from the past – which can certainly personify likely how James may feel at this time.

Here’s the image (below) – and here’s your chance to generate the most creative, funny, or unique caption possible. Either that, or just pitch in your initial thoughts on the LeBron situation, the Boston Celtics, or the Conference Finals in the NBA.

Have at it, friends – and as always, thanks for reading The Wife Hates Sports!

The NBA Playoffs are in full swing, with a handful of teams already clinching and moving on to the next round.

Yet, the highlight of the playoffs so far just may be the Milwaukee Bucks – a team that not only showed great improvement after dealing for John Salmons earlier in the season, but also a team that many gave little to no chance after losing center Andrew Bogut to a season-ending injury.

But last night, the Bucks defeated the Atlanta Hawks 111-104, tying the series 2-2.

Headlining the night for Milwaukee was the aforementioned John Salmons, who had 22 points. Rookie Brandon Jennings led the Bucks with 23 points on the night.

So to this point, it’s been arguably the most exciting series of the opening round of the NBA Playoffs – one that’s surprising many to this point.

What better way to celebrate the Bucks (OK there are a lot of better ways) but to highlight Milwaukee on this week’s TWHS Caption Challenge, which we feature John Salmons - showing a very surprised (and amusing) look on his face, much like the surprising look many fans have as the Bucks continue to give Atlanta headaches.

Here’s the image (below) – and here’s your chance to generate the most creative, funny, or unique caption possible.

Have at it, friends!

It’s time for another Caption Challenge here at The Wife Hates Sports – so put your creative hat on and start brainstorming some quoted goodness.

The NFL Draft is just around the corner – featuring the norm – like surprise draft day trades, unexpected player sections and…. off-the-wall, difficult-to-pronounce names?

Yes, exactly.

For every one Tom Jones selected in the draft, there are two names such as Chris Fuamatu-Ma’afala or D’Brickashaw Ferguson.

On top of that – there are the names that can make the most childish fan snicker – say Dick Butkus, for example.

Will there be any names like that during this season? Perhaps these former college players (below) will be drafted to the same team.

That brings us to the most recent edition TWHS Caption Challenge – featuring a humorous duo of college football players. This week, we encourage you to comment in any way you feel fit – whether it’s to create a caption for these players, comment on the funniest names in football, or to maybe add in some unique names of your own that could be fictionally selected during the NFL Draft.

Either way you choose to slice it, we seek the most creative, funny, or unique caption possible.

Have at it, friends!
